Haven't been doing much art lately because A) I was taking a drawing class (which turned out much better than my freshman painting class) and B) no longer have a scanner. I've learned a lot about drawing and stuff, though, so I do plan to get back into that.

However, I've been doing a crap-ton of short stories. I'm not sure why this is... I think I'm kind of burned out on my long fiction right now. I've been doing 1000-2000 words a day on my longer stuff, and I... I dunno. I just can't focus on anything very long. But I've been getting all these plotbunnies, and, unlike most of my short stories, they tie themselves up neatly with the sort of unity of feeling I like from short stories. It's kind of weirding me out, but in a good way.

So... yeah. I think I'm done now, but don't be surprised if I go back on that.

THE FACTS ABOUT M.A. (SkysongMA):
1. Post these rules.
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves.
3. Tags should write a journal/ blog of these facts.
4. At the end of the post 8 more persons are tagged and named.
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged.

1. I keep losing my keys. Like, every day.

2. I'm seventeen, but I still don't have my driver's license. And don't want it, frankly. I'm a loser and I never go anywhere.

3. I am currently whoring myself out in the interest of getting paid for my short stories- IOW, indulging my underfed need to write sappy romance.

4. I feel like I'm out of practice when I write.

5. AP English makes me long for proofreading papers. I don't like the touchy-feely side of
English.

6. I am finally getting over the depression that ruled my summer- at least, I think I am. At least now I have a concrete thing to blame feeling sad on.

7. I LOVE MY PUPPIES! :D :D :D :D

8. I hate the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, but I'm still going to try to read it, since all of my friends are such ridiculous fans about it.

Crappy Summer

Man, I am just having a shitty summer. That gorgeous little laptop I got? Turns out there are no drivers for XP, so I've been waiting all summer for restore discs that freaking work. They were supposed to come yesterday, but apparently they're not coming until after my boyfriend gets back from his vacation.

Not to mention how fricking depressed I've been... At least in May I could blame it on all the stress (at the end of the school year, everything just seemed to fall apart...). Now I just feel like a freaking loser who's never going to amount to anything.

It doesn't help that I haven't really been out of the house lately. My dog just had puppies, and lately they're the only thing that makes me smile without fail (especially since my boyfriend went out to California). Except because of them I've been sleeping days and watching them all night 'cause they're so freaking loud.

Everything just... sucks. I really need to get out of the house and hang with my friends for a while, away from the dogs and especially away from my parents.

Short Update

I have a new laptop now, although I won't be using it regularly for a little while. It's a gorgeous little thing, but it came prepackaged with Vista; although Vista is pretty, I don't like it at all, so my boyfriend is installing XP on it for me instead. (I always have the restore disks if I decide to defect after a while, but probably not. He knows about a patch that makes XP look just like Vista, and I think I'm going to make him get me that. :D) It's very nice having a boyfriend who's a nerd.

Although that does mean it's going to be like a week before I have everything reinstalled and the way I like it. Oh, well. ;_;

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do about my scanner, though. Supposedly, there's some way to get around using the software that my boyfriend's going to show me... but that'd be a while.

On a side note, I bought the new Avatar DVD ASAP after it came out. Now I am all rabid for when the new episodes start coming out in July. And I cannot deny a little thrill of happiness that Kataang won the ship war (although I feel an equal amount of rage because I found out from :icongreenify-me:'s journal that Avatar was supposed to be finished airing by now...).

On another... GO SEE IRON MAN. RIGHT NOW. It's, like, the most amazing thing I've seen in my life. It's definitely the best movie I've seen in at least two years. The only thing that ever matched my amount of excitement while I was watching it was during any sort of Avatar special (i.e., the season two finale). And that means that it is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD. GO SEE IT. IT WILL BE THE BEST EIGHT BUCKS YOU EVER SPEND IN YOUR LIFE.
